Jack and the Long Twitter Goodbye

As Jack Dorsey departs Twitter’s helm, I wonder if we’ve ever really known this enigmatic tech leader

Jack Dorsey, the man who helped create one of the most frenetic social media platforms in existence, is nothing like his creation.

Dorsey's Zen-like, almost Buddha-level presence can give the impression of disconnection. I’ve watched countless interviews (both online and some in person) where Dorsey’s voice rarely deviates from his monotone delivery.

Ever since he announced his resignation as CEO on Monday, I’ve been thinking about Dorsey the man and wondering if any of us have ever truly understood him.

I met Dorsey once in person in 2011. I was attending my first AllThingsD conference (a Wall Street Journal event that eventually became the independent Code conference). I don’t remember the meeting — which should tell you something — but did tweet about it.
