Why Google Rescued Robinhood From a One-Star Rating
A horde of angry users have left negative reviews of the online trading app
100,000: That’s roughly how many negative reviews of the Robinhood app Google deleted from its app store after angry users coordinated a campaign to leave one-star reviews of the commission-free trading app, reports The Verge.
Calls to #DeleteRobinhood and manipulate its online ratings surfaced not long after the online trading platform last Thursday banned its users from buying additional shares of GameStop, AMC, and other stocks targeted by Reddit’s WallStreetBets community.
The same day, a group of retail investors trading on the app filed a class-action lawsuit against the company, alleging that “Robinhood’s actions were done purposefully and knowingly to manipulate the market for the benefit of people and financial institutions who were not Robinhood’s customers.”
“Do your part, tank Robinhood’s rating in the App / Google play Store. They deserve it,” user the_optimist_prime commented in the subreddit channel.
